Re: Show off your custom interior and/or system

I used to be all over these forums, there's some really inspiring stuff here, and some crap. That being said, 3+ years ago I tore out the back of my 98 Tacoma when I was 15:shrug: and built this. Cleaned out everything down to the bare sheet metal, then unbolted quite a bit of that. The sub enclosure is is all mdf, each piece was measured and cut to fit the contours of the floor, it looks like a cube from the outside but inside resembles a rubix cub with pieces pulled off. A poor man's version to fiberglassing around curves. Final volume is just under 1cuft. Carpet on the front is cheap all purpose"rugged" carpet from Home Depot for something like $20 for a 10'x15' piece, seamlessly wraps over the top for that show quality look. The paint is a near perfect match, most people assumed it was stock (the paint not the install, give me a break) before it got so scratched up. It's a textured spattered thing that was something like $5 a can and has an equally cheap clearcoat.

It took me three years to take pictures you think they wouldn't be in low light and out of focus...

heres with the lid/seat opened up. when it's closed it won't flex with 3 people sitting on, which happens way too often. That piano hinge cost $30, no one has ever noticed how shiny it is...
Image

Closer, straight on view of the amps. Both top notch, high end Profile amps. On the right is a 500w mono sub amp, the one on left is 4x90 I think. Infinity kappas up front, amped stocked speakers in the back, they're just so crisp and clean. People knock em but i've had these bad boys laying upside down and covered for 3 years with no problems whatsoever.

1/4 inch carpeted plywood cover taken off. The wiring isn't "clean" per say...

View from the other door. Driver's seat will recline fully, passenger's side almost there. For one person It's more comfortable than the regular "seats," I think. The seatbelts didnt match my color scheme, nuff said.:waytogo:

Here's the brain. This might be 5 years old now, it was a hand me down but cost 400 something new. Aux cord wired through the glove compartment for storage.

I secured it by building it into the truck (screwing the wood into the cab) then I fiberglassed the whole inside and it doesn't move at all.

heres a pic from my cell phone before I wrapped it and put the subs in.

Up for sale is my custom build box that I built for my 02 tacoma ext. cab with tan interior. It fits between the jump seats perfectly, box was professionally built out of 3/4 MDF, and cost me about $300. It has a Kicker 10" Solo Baric L5 DVC 4ohm sub, set up for a 2ohm load on your amp. This sub can handle 450 watts RMS, and it def hits really hard. Please email at crazyd115@yahoo.com with offers, thanks.

I have a custom made fiber glass box that is in my 1998 taco extracab was done by SOUND ADVICE here in tampa FL. I can only hold one 10' sub.

$75 bucks plus shipping. It cost over 200 bucks for this when it was bought. If you have a bazooka bass tube i will be willing to trade.

I read a thread about these pioneer shallows I'm running so I figured I'd throw out a post. I finally replaced my second sub which was a lemon, so I just thought I'd post some pics for the hell of it.

I ended up pulling the boxes out and stuffing foam inside the cavity to reduce rattling.

My review....

These 8" shallows are nothing special of course, but I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wanted to add some bass without losing seating and spending too much.

:D They impressed me for what they are, they will rattle your rear view mirror a bit.

(From monte1985's For Sale thread: http://www.customtacos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=126053 )

You are looking at a custom sub box for a Toyota Tacoma Pickup. I built this and had it in my 2000 Tacoma. It should fit 95-00 Tacomas that are the Xtra Cab. It may also fit 01-04 but im not sure . This box has 4 10" Kicker Subs in it . The box has a 3/4" thick Plexiglas face and is built out of 3/4" MDF board. Inside is 2 blue neon lights along with 2 white strobe lights. It also has 2 blue neon lights under the faces of the speakers . Also there is a Plexiglas mirror that slides under the bottom to see the faces of the speakers and to make it look like you have 8 speakers. The Speakers are Kicker Impulse L10 , they are 4ohm 125w single voice coil. I ran these with a Orion 2150XTR amp and the box hit 143db in SPL. The top and the face of the box are removable and are carpeted panels. The color is a light Grey silver color. The amp rack is also included and was built to fit 2 Orion 2150 xtr amps. Also in the center was an opening for a fuse block. If other amps were to be used you would have to build a new cover to fit your amps. All this fits behind the front seats . You do however need to remove the back fold down seats for this to fit . What you will get is the whole box, both top and front covers. Upper and lower amp rack mounts. The 2 amps and the fuse block are not included. The speakers and the neon lights and strobes are included. Looking to get $600 or best offer. This would have to be someone local to buy or to come pick up and this would not be able to be shipped easily.

I came across some cheap buckets on craigslist, so now I'm trying to fab up a console to house a sub. Started this weekend.

It's my first glassing project, so I'm taking my time. So far so good though, as far as I can tell. It's final shape should be similar to rredrunnerxxx's old console

If my math is right it'll be about 0.7-0.75 cubes.

Only have a bad cell phone pic.

Since the pic I've made some changes, fine tuned it a bit, added cup holders, and got wrapped with fleece. If you have any suggestions let me know! :waytogo: Don't expect updates soon, as I can only work on it when I drive to visit the parents.

Re: 95-04 Rear Center Sub -- Who has a line?

I need my jump seats as well... here was my solution:
Image

Image

Pair of 8" CDT EF-80's... 125w to each... they hit nice and hard. No earth shattering bass, but way more than enough. 1 8 would have been enough for 90% of music, but when listening to dance music or techno I wanted the bass to be tight, fast and hard. definitely accomplished it.

Re: Heres my plan (95-04 extended cab stealth enclosure)

Not sure where my build thread is (Edit: found it Here), but I know I have one on here somewhere. If I can find it relatively easily, I will post the link.

This is in a 1998 extra-cab.

Anyway, here was my solution to the problem. Keep 100% of the space in the rear, jump seats, etc... including my storage cubbies. As well as: Be able to put it back to stock when/if I decide to sell the truck and want to take the stereo with me.

I am running two eD nine.2 amps. One under each seat. both doors are deadened inside and out and the pocket where the sub box goes is deadened as well.

The subs are in an actual enclosure, not IB/Freeair, so they hit nice and hard and shockingly low for 8's. I ended up putting a waffle-grille over each sub to keep my kids from punching them in with elbows, heads, matchbox cars, etc...
