Re: sub box in 95.5-04 ext cab

here's my 10' kicker comp in a 1cu. box i got on ebay...sounds great and i didnt have to sacrifice too much space. its still possible to fit two people back there! As for the speaker, for 150w RMS, this sub bumps hard lol. i did have to remove the jump seat for it to fit flush like that, but i think it just looks clean as hell!

Whats up Taco people, new member from Orlando FL. Have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma white with over 150,000 miles on it and still going strong. ... The best thing automotive wise is building my own Sub box for my taco using fiberglass and MDF. It was a messy long and expensive prossess :brickknoc but a good experience in the long run. ...

[T]he box sits right behind the driver seat (only have an extended cab) it is a sealed box. I sealed it mainly because it was my first time building one and two it takes up less space. A little bit more info on the box: It is an Alpine 12 inch sub powered by a Kicker Amp that was small enough to attach to the right side of the box "making it very easy to take the whole thing out in a space crunch" Fun little project but cost me double what buying one would have just in wasted materials due to inexperience and not thinking. Makes the truck sound so sick when I crank it up though.

Re: DD 1508 center console

And it's still not done.
Just need to make a bezel for the cup holders...
Definitely not perfect but I dig it and it sounds great.

It's been in the truck for months but I just finished the shifter boot tonight...no sewing machine so I did it by hand :doah:

Re: Show off your custom interior and/or system

... I thought I'd try and copy some Subwoofer Enclosure Boxes. It looks alright, I think I measured the the overall height a little too high...

I'm considering this box as my Prototype Box.

Finished and installed with dual 10" Kenwood KFC-XW1000s

Seen on eBay, June 2010 .... I believe this is the first and only XtraCab cubby-sub enclosure I've ever seen with an aperiodic membrane.

Seller = seeleyjp

Thanks for your interest.......Back once again is the latest design of my tacoma stealth box..........this was once sold (2002-2004) as just the top plate part with an infinite baffle subwoofer.......the design has evolved to the aperiodic design concept , ( SEE AUDIO REFERENCES BELOW , for explanation )..........using the existing storage compartment , packed with poly-fill ,*in combination with the "tuned" aperiodic vent/enclosure (mounted on box)*to achieve "flat" frequency response and great transient response......ideal "sealed box" results...........the enclosure*(aperiodic vent) has been tuned using*dayton audio's "woofer tester3" software/interface......to the "desired" Qtc of (.8)......which by most speaker designers is considered the optimum closed box system "Q"......not only does the speaker system have a custom professional look , it functions perfectly , the design goal here is quality* , not quanity.........this system will not have the output of a (2) 12 box but it outputs more than enough bass to easily keep up with*the other "fullrange" speakers mounted in the doors and rear, for an accurate soundstage.*Both sound quality and accuracy are top notch or your money back , for an 8 inch subwoofer this sub*kicks and sounds great , it adds the very much needed low end without a huge box taking up valuable space*.....................its named the stealth box because you can fold down the jump seat*and its out of sight , with no loss of rear cabin area and no interference because the*woofer sits recessed into enclosure for a smooth look.............Enclosure does not need to be screwed down and sits snuggly into the compartment , with a foam gasket helping seal and seat the enclosure........installation is very simple.......jack tools should be relocated from passenger side*compartment to the smaller "jack" compartment , remove passenger side*lid/cover and the black trim ring/fasteners ,*pack compartment with polyfill (supplied , as shipping protection)*, and hook*up an amplifier..............woofer is carefully selected for this*design based on its elec.mech specs as well as physical dim.*, not any speaker can*be used for this design and the enclosure is not available by itself........because performance and fit could not be gauranteed comes with manual & installation instructions , enclosure & pre-mounted woofer fits tacoma extended cab** 1995 thru 2004

From this June 2010 for sale thread:

http://www.customtacos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=146421

(4) X 8" custom sub box for extended cab of 96-2004 tacoma (gray carpet similar to lunar mist interior carpet) I spent alot of time fabbing this up and hate to see it go, but am selling the truck.

It is constructed out of high density fiberboard and a metric ton of fiberglass and resin. The whole bottom of the box is fiberglass and it is very heavy. The box is stout enough for an adult to ride on top of it. This is a sealed box, with about 1.3 cubic feet per sub. This box works well if you dont want to flaunt a huge system in your truck, and still use the extended cab to haul your junk or kids. Seatbelts still work fine with this box.

Re: Custom extended cab sub box- (4) x 8" subs

Couple more photos. The bottom is made up of several layers of polyester, fiberglass material and loose fiberglass pushed into the resin. I used more than a gallon of resin on this enclosure. The carpet could easily be changed to match a tan interior.

Re: Show off your custom interior and/or system

i dont think i posted pictures of when i installed my Sony deck and 10" kicker sub. The amp for the sub is in the cubby under seat where the sub box is. Nothing to special. Just enough to make the tunes sound way better:waytogo:
