Hey boys I'm trying to find out whats the most aggressive sounding exhaust for a 2006 taco. Ive heard Magnaflow and TRD catbacks sound good but your guys opinions would greatly be appreciated!!!

flowmaster has always had a tinny sound

On any 4 cylinder Toyota truck, it cives it that UPS truck sound..

On V6 3.4/4.0's they just sound like any V6 Camaro or Mustang..

Great at idol, gutless through the mid to upper RPM range sound.

How about this gimmick, A friend just put one of these tailgunner exhaust on his truck. Just welded it on the straight pipe exiting under the bumper. When you get on the gas the barrels spin making it look like the mini-gun in predator! When you take your foot off the gas, it sucks the remaining exhaust out. But... THESE ARE FOR MOTORCYCLES! Yep, he's an idiot.

With everything you guys have said I believe I'm just going to go with the Maganaflow Complete Catback system. I have a 2006 DBL Cab/ Short bed/ TRD Sport Model. I just want it to sound as mean as a 6 cylinder could. I plan to run a TRD CAI on it as well. Good? Yes?

Ive tried a few things on mine:

IMCO Extreme on a STOCK 4.0l, except K&N Aircharger, turndown before axle:

It really sounds bad (not good)

Add headers and it sounds light years better:

Cut everything after the cats and add true duals using 2.5" inlets/outlets 11" Magnaflow with turndowns:

Im working on getting a better clip for this as soon as my cameras fixed.

Next thing I'm trying is the MAC ProChamber that a lot of V6 Mustangs use to make them sound like V8s.

Headers are the 'secret' ingredient, they give more depth and 'whup-whup' to the sound. Without headers, there's only so much you'll get out of an exhaust soundwise. I'd also say that larger exhausts are quieter, but also deeper sounding. The TRD one I have is almost identical to the Magnaflow 22" .

I don't care so much about volume as depth and 'throatiness' - mine certainly isn't the loudest, but it definitely is the meanest sound Ive heard on one of these. I also took off one of the two cats and replaced it with a straight pipe, which added some volume and crackle.

And the bottom line is true, you'll never get the big block V-8 sound without a big block V-8. But you can get a really nice V-6 sound with some work. They're two different animals.

Well I have done it. Successfully mated a MAC Prochamber to a 4.0L Taco. True Dual 2.5" exhaust, dual turndowns, all 4 cats, JBA Headers, K&N 63 Series Aircharger. For your viewing pleasure:

Not the V8 sound as expected, but mean as all hell. I dont think it can get any louder than this with all cats and a "muffler." The video is a understatement its pretty much straight pipe loudness in person.

TRD headers or JBA's,I got the TRD's
Test pipe with/without a skinny ass magnaflow in that(personal preference)
Magaflow Muffler into a trd catback assembly

Stay away from TRD mufflers thay crack at the welds after time, other than the muffler their catback kits are strong and sound good once you change out that shiny ass muffler that rusts.

Love it and the way it smells too,and with it being so open I can really hear how hard the motor is working or not.:headbang:
