Decal gunk question

Looks like I'm gonna have to back out of the black primer stage for now, so what is a good product to use to remove the glue left on my tailgate after removing the lettering? After removing them, I never could get the glue off. Also it seems that the pinstriping on the driver side won't come off either except in tiny chunks. I've tried a heat gun, but it only worked on the passenger side.

goop off or 3M adhesive remover usually does the trick for the chunks of glue, but there is usually an outline of the lettering that is slightly visable from an angle. That is the hard part to get rid of. If you have an electric buffer, use that, but do it carefully, or get it professionally detailed. After that is should be gone.

The product I've had the best luck with (most goo-removal with least paint destruction) is "Goo Gone," which you can buy in most home stores. Whatever you use, TRY IT ON AN INCONSPICUOUS PLACE FIRST! Sorry for shouting, but this can't be overstressed. If a heatgun worked on part of the pinstripes but not the rest, they're on there pretty good. (But you knew that

) You might try wiping some Goo Gone on them and letting it sit for a minute, but other than that don't know what to tell you. You might let it sit in direct sunlight all day and then try it near sunset - a long period of direct sunlight might work better than a short period of heat gun, but that's a pure gess.
