THIS IS AN ARCHIVE THREAD containing posts / photos collected from the CT forums (and elsewhere).

This thread contains images and some descriptions of subwoofer boxes / enclosures / installation for 1995.5 - 2004 Tacoma XtraCabs.

- Enola Gaia, August 2007

This is my 5 month old 02 Tacoma xtra cab. I wanted subs and did not want to lose the back seats. Me and a buddy did it in one evening. And what an improvement. Now I will spend alittle time under the hood. I am also going to add some lighting to the subs so they stand out at night. More pics when done.

Re: subs in an s-runner...

this is the best I could come up with, under the passenger side where the tools go, all the tools fit under the drivers seat nicely, amp under the front passenger seat, works pretty well for not losing any space, the basics of what I did are in my gallery comments

Made my decision on which one to get - sssooooo I did!! hehehe. Got it at the same place Mykee did and got the club discount too - That thing dropped in the compartment hole like a glove due to it being square!! ....gotta do some tunning on it though (maybe port it?)..but anyways check out the pic attached.

Re: Subs

whoa sorry i missed this post. it is possible to have a crazy system and not sacrifice any seat room. ive got 2 JL 12w6's in a custom box that takes up all of my back seat and is angled in the front to angle the subs at the angle of my recline. i went to this shop and told them to make me a box for these subs but to take measurements from where my seats were now. i made it clear that the box could not compromise the seats. so they did it and its even the right inner cubic whatevers for the subs. and man does it pound. ive put out 154 one time. i think i can do more.

Re: ext. cab box.....

here's a few pics of my setup:

notice that there's more of an opening in the front of my box. I think that's important for airspace. it looked like that box on ebay was pretty much totally enclosed except for the center cut out, not too bright if you ask me.

Re: show pics of your stereo

I like how you strapped the box down with the seat belt

Why dont you just put the seat back more so it wont go anywhere?

But its funny when i look at it for some reason

Anywho here is a pic of my set up. Its not that clear but the enclosure is CarbonFiber it holds 2 JBL 12s and an Alpine V12 amp in the center. Oh yeah, it fits the entire back excab area.

Re: show pics of your stereo

here is my sub box. its just an R/T angled truck box for an 8" sub. i just layed the box behind the seat so that the sub faces down. i put a 2x4 under the top to hold the box from falling all the way doan until the sub hits the floor. i really like my setup... it was cheap, easy, i can still get someone to sit there, and i can still put stuff on top of it without having to worry about it hurting my sub. my amp is mounted under the driver's seat.
