Anyone try using adjustable air shocks in the rear? The back is lowered about 3inches and the ride is a little stiff. I don't want to put bags on, I just thought maybe the adjustable air shocks might work well.

i had air shocks (monroes-better than gabriels) in my last truck. never had one pop, and it was a good ride. only thing that sucked was the time to raise it back up. but my buddy used his solenoids and increased the air line diameter to raise it a lot faster.
Why do all tech support people talk to you like you're an idiot? I'm just trying to find out which shock will work. The only place that carries one that will fit is Chassis Tech. Funny thing is that they are Monroe shocks, and I called Monroe to ask them about the shocks and they said that they don't carry one that will fit. What is up? Okay, I trust you guys. Does anyone know of any air shocks that work on the tacoma?
Go to your local auto parts store(pep boys, discount, etc.) find an air shock that is the length you want that has the same type of ends(where it bolts to the truck) as yours and buy it. That's what I did on my '94 ranger and no problems
I had air shocks with my three inch blocks. They were Gabriels or monroes #MA 792. The previous post is correct. It can take a while looking through the book. Also keep in mind that if the eyelet size is different you can still put in a 5/8 inch grommet. 5/8's is what the tacoma takes up and lower shock mount. Air shocks from a 69-72 2wd chevy blazer will work from what I remember for my app which is 3 inch blocks and pulled middle leaf. One important note, down travel is just as important as uptravel.
yeah, get rid of the bumpstops and put in a stip of old tire, works great, especially if you make the holes in the ruubber farther apart than the mount holes in the frame, that way it has a little lump in between the bolts when you put them back in, gives it a little more cushion. That will give you like 3" more suspension travel, and greatly improve your ride.
yeah, when measuring shocks shouldn't you get one that is midway compressed that way it has enough room to go both ways? i have never had to do any research when buying shocks but that is how it seems to me
that is correct, you should have to compress your shocks a couple of inches for the mounts to line up correctly, that way it can push your tires to the road when you hit dips also.
I AM SURROUNDED BY IDIOTS! Every part store I got to, the person looks at me with a blank face, and says, "I can't help you." What happened to quality service? Or, was there ever any in a parts store? I'm going to have to go with the Gabriel shocks, because no one will look to see which monroe will work for me.
I'll send you my part number when I get home if you want, I have the boxes there still, I went to Discount Auto Parts and they hooked me up good......actually, I just went out and checked my truck and found the reciept, the part number is:
37112ST Sensa-Trac T
Hope this helps.
