Yoko Geolander A/T-S vs. Firestone Destination A/T

I am very interested in people's opinions about which one of these tires is better in terms of (1) safety and (2) treadlife. The price differences are negligible. I am looking at a 265/70R15 Geolander vs. a 30 X 9.5 R15 Firestone. Which one is going to keep me on the road and last the longest?

My rig is a stock (no lift) standard cab 2001 Tacoma. Because of pricing, it is going to be a set of one of these two tires. Please give me your opinions of the two, assuming you have had actual experience with one or the other.

Thanks for your time and info.

P.S. I have been told that I can fit 31 X 10.5 R15 on this rig (no mods, lifts, etc.) without them rubbing. Has anyone actually done this? It doesn't look like they would fit, to me. My wife would run over me with my Tacoma if I spent over 500 bucks on tires i can't use. ANyone done this/know if they really fit?

NOTE: Did some more research, looks like 31X10.5 won't fit with stock- what about with 1.5 inch spacers/blocks front & back? Anyone done that?

Thanks again

Im on my second set of yokohamas and love them. I got 55k out of my last set and that is the longest i have ever had a tire last(i drive very hard). As for fitment the 31s fit my 05 with just the smallest bit of rub when stock. I put the bilstine 5100 with 3/4" of lift and have had no problems. You might be able to fit them with just the pinch weld mod(search) on your 01. I never had any problems or flats and found that they do well in wet and dry. Best tire for the money in my opinion.
31x 10.5 will fit. But u need an 8 inch wide rim
I ran many sets on mine but I had a 6 inch wide rim. It made the center of the tire wear faster.
Also I had 3.58 rear end gear. Not the best gear for the tires. I liked the the 30x 9.50 on my base 4x4 manual.

My last set of tire was the destination a/t. They looked meaty on the truck. Did great in 15 or so inches of snow we had back in December. Were quiet and gripped well. I would of stuck with that tire.

As for lift for the front i saw u said u needed shocks. Go the wheelers offroad website and get the bilstein adjustable and 5100 shocks. Set the fron to the middle setting for 1.25 lift and it will ride great on those rough roads.

The best wet tire but wore faster tire I ever had was dueler a/t revo.

For Tires, i'd say the Yokohoma Geolanders... I got a set on my 05 Chevy.. They're pretty beast in snow....fair in the mud... But honestly, I think the Yokohomas get better tread wear... i got 53k out of mine.. my friend has the firestones. he got 50k...
