Serious only. Right now we need a total of 5 deposits of $500 to get the kit started. Initial estimate is $1600 plus transmission. So if your interested put your name on the list.

1.sparkys Tacoma.
2. Balboa

Please add me to the list. :D
I think the cost of the kit will be closer to $3500. That is without the transmission.
A lot of the cost, will depend on how complete the kit is. As a minimum, I think we need:

1. A bellhousing.
2. A shifter.
3. A crossmember. ( or a modified crossmember)
4. Tail shaft u-joints.
5. Clutch plate
6. Pressure plate.
7. Clutch fork.
8. Shifter

Optional

A. driveshaft (shorter or longer)
B. Flywheel.

What won't be included.

1. Transmission.
2. Any console rework.(if needed).

This is just a quick list of what I can rattle off the top of my head.

I think this should be considered a feeler to see if we can get five (5) committed people to do this.

I spoke with Allan Phillips about this today and some versions of the T56 will be better suited for our applications than others. So do not rush out and grab any T56.

I'll put money down when I know what the kit will consist of. 3500 with no trans seems high, but what does that include.

The idea is to try to see if there is interest. If you could have a T56 kit for your X-Runner for $3500 are you interested?

No one is going to expect you to plunk down $3500 for something that is not well defined.

whats included in the "kit" is it absolutely everything but trans? Or is there going to be alot more needed to complete the install?
I am interested and have money in hand, but I need to know what is in the "kit"
for what you listed I can't see $3500
So whats the name of the shop your having to do this?
A legitimate company. Will hold off on name till we see what were looking at and what's included. Just to keep the traffic off that company. And if strike one doesn't work we have a back up.

As soon as "that banned guy that we can't mention here" gets it in his truck I am flying out to Dallas to test drive it.

I really would rather have a nice auto in it.

G :) Gadget, U can drive my XR but I will be setting the X-1 to limit the speed to 10 MPH. I have seen some of your driving in Super Wertys exclusive videos.
Why a T56 may I ask arnt there cheaper and more readily avalible trans out there of the same if not better quality and aftermarket support? Just a question of why is everyone stuck on the T56?

I by no means claim to be a trans pro and excuse my ignorance but is there a fitment issue that I am not considering or do the shifters like up well with this trans to minimize the surgery? Is the T56 a better option then lets say a power glide? there is a 1500 dollar difference in the new price and a 700 dollar price in used.

Honest question I would like to be educated. and dont come back at me with a smart ass answer like only a pansy wants a auto. I understand the diff between auto and manual.

I apoligize for the questions but I know the crowd that buys parts for these trucks and the vast majority will not spend that kind of money on the swap, there will be a few that will but the majority will not spend the money because the majority of owners dont have that type of money.

You cannot reduce the speed limiter with the X-1, you can only raise it.....

I honestly think having a 6th gear is over rated, T55's can be had for cheap.
all the T56 is is a close ratio trans much like the 6 speed you X Runners have now..

thank you and I agree
Chris the trans we have now is a granny 4 gears and than an OD. The T56 is a very common and well aftermarket supported trans that has an excellent history in high power vehicles. Documented proof of legitimacy. And the powerglide is an awesome drag trans but most of us corner carve our trucks and don't have that phenomenol tq to pull out of a corner using the Glide. But the T56 has a DOD. Dual over drive and allows an agressive rear gear and book on the top end. And a T5 is a great trans and served begins many a mustang but power capacity is down from the T56. And a 56 can have any gear you can imagine put in on a rebuild. But Shane if we were drag racing only than the glide would be an easy choice and there is also a semi complete kit to run a 700R4 but a manaul is more fun and better on a road course as a torque converter can spool and engage if in the wrong location of gear and unless built to suit will down shift and send us through a corner.
There are 3 or 4 different ratios available in the T56, what ratio are you guys looking at?

Over drive? seriously? This isn't the 80's, its either a 5 or 6 speed.
You'll never see a O or O2 on the shifter on anything with a T56 ;)

I've seen 600+ hp Mustangs with the T5 pulling the fronts off the ground, if you think
your going to break one with a heavily modded 1GR, you got another thing commin..

Borg Warner T56 6-speed Manual
Gear Ratios : 3.36, 2.07, 1.35, 1.00, .80, .62

Borg Warner T5
Gear Ratios : 2.95, 1.94, 1.34, 1.00, .62

with the T56, your just rowing an extra gear, I'd think you guys would want the gear ratio of the T5 to make full use of your power band vs rowing through a closer ratio, it just seems like a waste to me and this is going to make your T56 setup much more expensive..

dont you lose like 50hp running an auto to the wheels..?
all of the below is great information and I understand, but with that said none of this answers why the fixation on an expensive tanny (T5 series). the 1gr is not going to be a powerplant by any means so why this tranny? There are trannies out there that will more than hold up to the awesome power of the 1gr fully modded haha. what about a c series (C6, C4) or the Turbo 350, 400

Once again I am not ruffling feathers I justs want to know why.

Thank you for the information.

there is some truth to that but there is a trade off for consistancy, for instance a professional driver took a 2000 Mustang GT and ran the manual and auto and was consistantly quicker in the auto do to the loss of Human error, Atleast that is what I get out of it.
