Viper 5701 Problem

I bought a viper 5701 online and had it installed this weekend at Best Buy. Everything works fine except when i press the lock/unlock button it will perform the function but will give me an error tone and the function light lights up red. It doesnt matter what i button i press. It will do it only on my 2-way pager remote. I've changed the battery, unplugged battery, and unplugged antennae. None of these worked. Does anyone have any suggestions:confused:

Take it back to Best Buy... It could be install/setup related...
Just got back from Best Buy and the tech said it was the brain of the unit causing the problem. The 2-way pager was not working. Hope this helps someone with the same prob. He replaced the antennae, dropped the remotes and readded them and nothing worked. The only thing left was the brain

Depending on how comfortable you are, you can purchase another Viper 5701 (or Clifford equivalent) online and swap brains and return the defective one, and/or take it up with the place your originally purchased from to exchange the defective unit they sold you...
Great idea! That way i dont have to send it off to the nanufacturer for repair. That was gonna take 2-3 weeks.

Its going to come down to either having them fix it, probably free under warranty. Or out of your pocket trying to replace parts.

Why can't they swap out the control unit with another one? You could try talking to the manager and see if they can help. Just go in and be polite, if the manager can't help, ask for his supervisor ;)
Best Buy will not replace the part because it was not purchased there. I asked the tech if he could just swap out the parts and he said no because they wont get credit for the defective part. He was kind enough to swap out my two remotes with new ones. I guess the ones i purchased were an older model.
