Well I do know one thing and that is the copper coil that the circuit goes through before affecting the tach is very much responsible for controlling the current. The copper coil itself is a resistor and I believe that if the copper coil is different for the 6cyl and 4cyl then its just a simple trip to the dealership to get the coil and replacing it. Im still researching to see if there are any other major differences between the two tach. I am going to have them pull up the schematics of both tach and differentiate between them.

This is what you need
tach signal convertor

It would be much easier to simply use the 4 cyl cluster but since you already have the 6 cyl cluster you can place his unit on the tachometer signal wire that goes to the instrument cluster, and it will fix the problem you guys are talking about.
oooooh nice :waytogo:. I would like to get a 4cyl cluster but I just cant find any.

Bumping a very old thread here, but I have been considering a tachometer cluster and wanted to know how to do this in case I could only get a V6 one. I found this really helpful information on youtube:

Figured this was good information that could help someone else.

Well, I did the cluster swap and I can now tell you that the 95.5-97 cluster, unfortunately, does not have that adjuster in it!
