Hey everyone, I have a 2005 Tacoma and I’ve been thinking about putting a turbo kit on it. Just wondering what’s the max psi a stock 4.0 v6 can handle. Any advice will be appreciated!

I’m deciding on either taking it to a shop that’s down the road from me, or having my buddy come over that’s installed turbos on his jeeps before to help me out

Internet says 10 psi is the limit before it gets risky. Most say that at 15 psi it won't be long before the motor pops.

Put 1GR-FE (that's your engine) into Google and add the words "max boost." Many results on this topic and plenty of other websites more focused on the 2nd Gen Tacoma.

Tuning is going to be the most critical part of the process. I'd get it installed and run at 5 psi, find a reputable tuner, then turn up the boost.
