A lot depends on the weight inside the trailer, not its size.

Do you have the factory Tow Package with the transmission oil cooler? (Just checking - some 'towing packages' consist only of the hitch ...) If not, you may want to consider adding a transmission oil cooler. I believe Hayden was the OEM source for the factory Tow Package coolers.

Change the oil in the tranny.
Add a tranny cooler.
keep it in drive or 3rd gear, not overdrive.
would the TRD cooler be a good option? like this one http://toyotapartspeople.com/search...&year=96&productdesc=TRD+Transmission+Coolers

ill check on my lunch break if the one.
Enola,

do you know what the model number of the hayden cooler is? those seem to be a bit more in my price range.
I've used fluidyne in the past. They've worked out pretty good for me.

Their multipass cooler is particular one I've used... I like the internal passage design and the relatively cheap price...

In this thread:

... the advice given is simply to buy the biggest stack plate Hayden cooler you can fit in the available space.
Mazutoytaco reports using a Hayden 678 in this 2006 thread:

Vincent reported using a Hayden 1679 in this 2008 post:

... And mdsims used a 679, and the installation is illustrated in this thread:
