To Rebuild or Not To Rebuild

I am looking at getting a supercharger for my 1998 tacoma. I found a used supercharger with 80,000 miles. Would it be worth it to throw another $650 down to get it rebuilt?

(1) You talking about shipping it off for a full rebuild, or ... ???

(2) Depends on how much the used supercharger would cost. How much are they asking for it?

Depends on the asking price...
Dude wants a $1000.
That is past it's service life, IMO get it rebuilt. Mine had about 120-130K on it, took it to Magnuson (the manufacturer) and not only where ALL the bearings bad (ie: not just the noise drive but the bearings in the back), but so bad that the impellers had had interference with each other and needed replacing if I wanted tip-top efficiency.

And man did it sound better when I got it back.

If a blower has over 50,000 miles on it the most i'd pay is $600 KNOWING it needs a rebuild (which could be anywhere from $250 - $1000).
I paid 1400 for my rebuilt blower and a few goodies.
