Tire size

Hey fellas...been lurkin' on and off for a while. I'm trying to decide on which tire size to go with. I've got an '09 base 2wd and I've got some OE 15 inch steel rims from a gen-1 Taco that I'm going to refinish and use. I want the simple rugged look of a steel rim, but prefer the look of the gen-1 vs. the gen-2 steelie.

Anyway...I just assumed I was going to run a 235/70. But after thinking about it I'm wondering about a 235/75. I've done lots of research here and found at least a couple of people who are running that size. However, I can find no pix of them.

So anyone with pix of a stock 15 steelie and a 235/75 tire?

Also, does it blunt the power much?

Thanks

Done ... :waytogo:

Just so I'm clear ... We *are* talking 5-lug rather than 6-lug, right?

I don't remember anyone ever mentioning transplanting pre-2005 5-lug OEM Taco wheels onto a 2005+ Taco.

Because the 2005+ Tacos use a smaller hub / centerbore, this means your center hole will be bigger than the hub and you'll be relying on a lug-centric fitment (the lugs will be the only things keeping the wheel centered).

Are you intending to add hub-centric rings?
I bought a couple of gen-1 steelies from a friend and mounted some snow tires on them. I never thought about the center-bore....although for as little as I use them, they'll be fine.

A few weeks ago I bought 4 more for my above mentioned project. Well, I decided it would be a good idea for me to check it out anyway...and your right, the gen-1 has a larger bore. But more importantly than that, the fronts DO NOT clear the calipers!!

Anyone need some gen-1 OE steelies?

Oh, crap ... :doah:

Thanks for reporting your findings so others will know ... :waytogo:

No problem.

However...I'd still like to see some pix of the 235/75/15. Anybody? :D
