Supercharger or Turbo

I have a '99 PreRunner 2.7L

I need just a tad more power to pull my travel trailer (about 2,700 LBs). I live in ABQ, NM at 5,000 elevation and do most of my travels around 3,000 to 7,000 elevation.

Some folks have told me to go the Supercharger route and some the Turbo route. Like to hear what folks think is the better alternative considering my goal in pulling the trailer in the high elevation.

Note - I've already invested in Headers and Cat-back exhaust so I do know the Turbo route will knock out the headers. The truck has 150k on it but it runs like it's brand new.

Open to all ideas!

well overall the supercharger will give you more low end power compared to a decent sized turbo setup.. however you will not make near as much hp with a sc.. granted i'm at sea level here, but my truck with a turbo, i have towed several cars/ trailers.. you completely forget they are back there.. with a car hooked up to my truck with a tow rope, i fear full throtle because i feel the tow straps will break:lol: also if you are in hilly terrain, when you start goign up hill, there's an increased load put on the engine, the turbo will then spool up sooner and pull you up the hill..
for power and more useability , turbo
for a little more ommph and reliability, supercharger:waytogo:

For simplicity, supercharge. For possibilities of far greater than a supercharger, turbocharge.
How mechanically inclined are you? if you are good with a wrench, go turbo, if not, go blower.
You should go with a Supercharger. Going turbo would be overkill for what your doing.
Supercharger so you can still use the headers and exhaust.
like other guys said how mechanically inclined are you... Id go with the charger if i were you no need for turbo... use them headers
Turbo. At that elevation a supercharger will never make the power or boost it is suppose to. When I had my supercharger, going from 700' where I live to 3500' I noticed a big loss of power and boost. With the turbo I have been up to 7900' and power was still there.
Big rigs and other diesels use a turbo to pull huge amounts. Cost no power to make power and only on V8's can you get away with rotating mass not noticing a blower drive. Go turbo and get the right blower to begin with. Save upgrade costs later
im having second thoughts on whether to SC or turbo..i was leaning more towards SCing..
do it right, do it once - TURBO!.
my 2.7L was supercharged with all the other mods i can think of short of nitrous, and the power was ok at 9.5 psi especially going up hill, but because i have a lift and oversize tires the power gain on straight road lacked, so im installing my turbo this wknd.
ok guys. in the same boat. i want to put a turbo in my truck. but the question is do they make a bolt in kit and what company to get?

I see you guys are noobs. Start a new thread about it because this thread is getting jacked.

Most guys here with turbo setups are custom made.
