Im looking to replace the steering rack bushes on my 02 4wd taco and have been looking about on the web at various manufacturers.

Some websites say that the bushings are the same for trucks from 95-04 and others say there was a change at 2000.

Are the bushes the same?

What makes are recommended, I have experiance of Energy Suspension and like thier stuff but have also looked at Daystar and Prothane.

If Prothane makes it I think thats the good stuff, is that the manufacturer that impregnates the bushings with graphite so it doesnt squeek?? Remember urethane and squeeking go hand in hand.

Are all the bushings the same then from 95-04?
I have a 2003 Double Cab 2wd. When I did my steering rack bushings I used the kit from Energy Suspension, part number 8-10101G. The "G" signifies the black color bushing, that has the graphite in it or something. Anyway, my kit came with 2 different sized metal bushings. I used the correct one that fit. I think the reason people are saying that there was a change for 2000 is because Toyota used 2 different sized bolts for the center mounting point, one for 95-2000 and another size for 2000-2004. Thus, the kit comes with 2 different sized sleeves to fit for the different size bolts. Just use the one that fits.

Hope this helps.
Thanks, I was wondering on the difference.

Energy Suspension has two numbers for pre and post 2000

Prothane only lists up to 2000

and the Daystar kit has one number for 95-04.

If I ordered the wrong kit by accident it wouldnt be the end of the world as I could make a new bush in work on the lathe and have it plated in our shop.

Its just a bit worrying when you are ordering from the US for my truck here in the UK.
