hey gang, i just put the Taco in surgery for my clutch, tie rod ends and check up. ordered the LC Engineering dual comp clutch w/11lb. flywheel (money sucks). my question is on the short shifter i'm thinking of adding( might as well). Does anyone have the short shift kit from LC E. or EL P. and is the difference in shift throw worth the bucks. thanks

Hey, i bought one about a month ago ...it is nice. The install was a pain , however it was worth it. For the money this is a good investment. The throw is drematicaly improved the throw big time .
I was shocked . The one thing that i had to do is swap the new shift bushing (white piece of plastic on the end of the new shifter with the old one due to the quality )if you dont replace it you will have to later on. makes a huge differance in time ...as far as shifts go

I don't really know anything about shifters and I was wondering: When you refer to "throw" is that the distance you have to move the stick in order to get it into gear? Also, how does the shifter shorten the throw? The actual length of the stick isn't effected is it?

Thanks for the info,

TacomaKevin17- here's a perfect example jump in your truck and try to slamm it from first to second. now thats a stock throw right? now try again but stop the throw in neatral, that would be second gear if you had the short throw shifter.

as far as how it shorten's it. its all magic! nah they reconfigure the end of the shifter.

in most cases the actual lenght of the stick that comes out of the floor board is short too. i dont have one in my taco (but plan too) but i did have one on my si hatch back civic i had.

lc's set up include a 1inch spacer that needs to be installed between the tranny and the shift housing this pervents the shifter from losing to much hieght it is about 1inch shorter thn the stock , yet this is a good thing , it gives more didstants from the stereo and cup holder ....this in my opnion is a great upgrade

i have one too, i love it, the LC one, elp is never ever going to come out

hey i didn't use the 1 inch plate. because when i would shift the shifter would pop out of the shift fork, then i did without the plate and it felt a whole lot better.
