I'm interested in relocating the tailgate handle to the inside of the truck. I just recently got a low profile fiberglass tonneau that locks. Are there any pros or cons to doing this. Where would I go to have it done? Is there a price range for this sort of thing?

Thanks guys

Flipping the handle is the very next thing I'll be doing to my truck...and I've got a low profile (flush fit) tonneau.

Personally, I love the look of a smoothed-ass Taco. My girlfriend always gives me crap when I talk about how I like the Taco's nice, round ass. Ok, I'm weird.

Anyway, If you DO decide to flip it, I'd recommend the flip kit from Sir Michaels. That'll be what I'll buy when the time comes. And take lots of photos and send em' in!

I used a sir michaels relocator kit from godfather customs and flipped the handle myself. It's really easy to do. Then I contacted a local custom paint shop and they welded in the filler plate and repainted the tailgate for 300.00. The guy that did it did the best job I've ever seen and the price was certainly right. Call around to some paint shop's and ask them for a price. When you find a price that seem's reasonable go down and ask them to see pictues of past work. The main thing is that they do it right or after a while you'll be able to see where the filler panel was welded in. If you live in central cali I can give you the name of the shop that did mine.

My tailgate handle is shaved, but I did not relocate my tailgate handle. I used two solenoids (same as are in my doors) to actuate my tailgate and mounted them inside the tailgate under the access panel. They pull the factory bars that open the tailgate. Now, I just press a button on my remote and my tailgate opens by itself. No handle at all. This small thing is probably the one thing that I have gotten the most questions and comments about on my truck.

Just two door popper solenoids purchased from my local stereo shop. They were maybe $15.00 a piece. They are the same ones that I use in my doors. It is also a very easy install.
