Scan and calibrator questions

i already have the LM-2 and the MAF calibrator from URD on hold just waiting for payday to purchase..i just need some clarification as to the difference between the single and the dual LM-2 kit..

i wanna try and tune my truck by myself and i wanna know if with the calibrator can i do so?

anybody familiar with these products and or the Gadget guy from URD Please enlighten me on this..

the dual LM2 kit has 2 wideband o2 sensors. Not sure if its 100% necessary to monitor both heads if indeed you have a v6? id go for the lc1 unit mainly for price and place downstream where the header collects. As far as tuning your truck yourself? It can be done, even for the first timer. It will just take patients and some reading up. Check out that Utune by gadget everyone talks about. You will get some basic understanding about tuning your own ride.

oops i should have read a little closer... since you already have the lm2, all you need is a scanning tool to monitor fuel trims and other engine parameters.

i got a 4cyl..i havent purchased the scanner yet i was just wondering if the singe is for single cat systems and the dual for dual cat..i got 2 O2 sensors so will that matter?
no dual is to monitor two wideband sensors at once. IF someone wanted to go the extra mile and monitor two different runs of exhaust plumbing, example a v6 or v8 with dual exhaust. most cars if not all modern efi equiped vehicles have an o2 sensor before and after cat. primary o2 to send feedback to ecu on engine performance and post cat o2 sensor to check efficiency of cat for smog regulation. so there isnt any correlation on your vehicle having 2 02 sensors and needing a dual lm2 metering system.
all u need is scan tool you only need one sensor read out for the 4cyl and windows xp db9 connector
ahhh i see:selfbonk:..

ive pretty much got a good setup on my truck..

CAI
lc headers
highflow cat
40 series flow
light FW

and pending LC cams

with the tuning and crap is the difference massive..ive never thought bout tuning, let alone been able to afford the scan and calibrator until now..

with your mods, i would not expect massive gains. Noticeable? ya sure, and you should feel the power. More importantly tuning the truck will calibrate your maf metering function so that the ecu is compensating for true figures measured at the maf sensor ( correcting fuel trims closer to something the ecu could manage easily) . So if there is a lean spot in your power curve or a rich flat spot you can adjust and improve throttle response and make power.:waytogo:

solid..this will be just for now cause i deploy here in May and when i get back is when i plan on slapping on a SC from LC..thats all im waiting for man..the cash

one more question, with the cams installation is there anything i may need to go with it?
id go with some bigger injectors if your putting cams and s/c make sure the cams dont have to much overlap i think thats what its called these motors dont like it

can i run on the strock one with just the cams or should i get bigger ones..
oh and as far as the calibrator goes, which would i need i just noticed theres a few, a MAF (w/MAP sensor for boosted truck), O2 sensor calibrator, Mass air flow fuel and timing, AFR, and a MAP-ECU2 AFR from URD.

the one i was thinking i need is the MAF one.
As for which calibrators, Gagdet could answer best (he runs URD). My .02...

MAF adjusts the signal indicating how much air is entering the engine
AFR adjusts signal indicating air/fuel ratio seen by sensor (you don't have AFR)
O2 adjusts signal indicating air/fuel ratio seen by sensor (you have O2)
MAF & Timing is the MAF indicated above and a timing controller
MAP2ECU is like a combo of all the above..

..and I'm sure that if I am wrong, 100 CTr's will let us both know.

I think your best option would be 1) get with Gagdet 2) get your SC and 3) get the URD toy recommended.

If you tune it now, then add a SC, you'll get to tune it again.. you also get to retune after other mods...

ima probably call URD on this one
If you are gonna boost you should look at the map sensitive units. You will also want timing control. FTC from split second/URD will work or the MAP2ECU

can i tune with an o2 simulator on my truck??
can i tune with an o2 simulator on my truck??
yes that shouldn't affect anything

and I would just keep stock cams cuz the less you Fack with the better you know
