What suspension setup are you running up front?

I ended up doing the trail gear 5"HD leafs and made my own shackles. When I set it on the ground the rear of the leafs swing up and hit my frame. I haven't added the shocks or bump stops yet. Would that make a diff if those were installed. I'm wondering if I need to do a diff setup.

bump stops are key, you dont want your spring to go neg. arch

how long are your shackles? what does your pinion angle look like??

I understand that but would the rear of my leafs touch the frame without them? Do your leafs sit on your bump stops when not moving?
sorry i read threw too fast... you should have some space between your bumps and axle....

pics would help see whats going wrong
sorry it was bad lighting and my cell phone :(

see how it hits the frame?

I cant see the pic but if you're running the shackle on the back of the spring it sounds like you have the shackle mount too far forward. Bring the shackle mount more towards the rear of the truck. Search on TTORA and Pirate4x4 for shackle angles.

P.S. shocks and bump stops wont make a difference on ride height.
I just checked it out on my phone and thats exactly whats going on. Move that shackle mount closer to that body mount. I would line up the bolt hole with that square hole in the frame next to the body mount. You should have some more meat on that shackle where it bolts to the shackle mount too. Are those the Trail Gear shackle mounts? How long are your shackles?
That is funny I was JUST about to reply on here and say I was going to try exactly what you just said. haha.. Thanks!

Those are just 1/2 steel plates i drilled out to test before ordering shackles and length. I forget on length. Going to drill a few more holes make sure I have it right and then make them purdy.
I agree on moving the mount back, you dont want your spring sitting like that, it's going to hurt the spring
You only want the shackle to be kicked back slightly, not straight up and down and deffinately not forward.
:eyecrazy: WhOA!!! back that thang up! shackle mount that is... also you might want to put it threw the frame to help your pinion angle

I just finished up a sas on my 98 4runner using marlin crawlers 4 inch springs for the 79-95 trucks. I used front range off roads front frame hanger and sky offroads frenched frame hangers on the rear of the front springs. Using 4 inch shackles, they said if using the standard 45 inch eye to eye toyota springs you should mount the rear spring hanger 43.5 inches from the front frame hanger. That is what I did and my angle came out great.
