I have a CEL that throws code P0446 Evaporative Emissions control Circ. Malfunction.

If I clear it, it comes back in a few days. Sometimes I get a rough idle for a minute but it goes away. For the most part the idle is really great. I looked for loose vac. lines etc. but didn't see anything. I thought this might be a common problem. Sound familiar to anyone?

We get those all day at work, Toyotas evap system is very senstive. First check and make sure your gas cap is on tight and the gasket is clean. Now pop the hood and check to make sure all the evap lines are on and non of the VSV (vaccum switching valves) are un plugged. If all looks good then you most likley need a new EVAP canister.

(1) Welcome to CT! :waytogo:

(2) On a 2003 2RZ 5-lugger, the charcoal canister is located in the back, above the fuel tank. (See attached diagram)

I forgot to add one more thing. I had a 99 Corolla that would throw the P0446 code every so often. I checked the entire EVAP system and couldnt find a thing. I discovered that when I filled up the gas tank until the pump would click off I would get the code right away. But when I would put just enough gas to fill it up but not all the way full the code would not come on.
