First off - check to ensure your taillights are working. All the dash illumination is powered off the taillight circuit.
If the taillights aren't working, check your TAIL fuse.

No Dash Light!!
Ok, my stock radio stopped working so I needed to replace. I chose an aftermarket sony and was very happy with the installation today, one problem, when i just ran out to get dinner I had no dash lights and the lights on the fan / heat pannel were out. Any idea of what I did wrong? Everything but my dash and console lights work.

One more check ... Run your dash light dimmer all the way from minimum to maximum, to see if the dimmer works.

And yes, the answer was a simple tail fuse under the hood. I had to rip apart everything again as well because I had the dimmer wires attached to each other that the Toyota doesn't have but after speaking with Crutchfield, the fuse alone should have done it. Guess it blew while swapping them out.
