Hey CT. So I’m running a 2001 Tacoma base model, 2WD with the Toyota 2RZ engine. I was getting lower than average MPG when I got it about 2 years ago. But now, I’m at 21.3 MPG, which I’m very happy with. Here’s some of the things that we’re dragging down the fuel econom: 1. Broke ball joint on the driver side. This caused my alignment to skew, which made the truck burn more fuel. 2. Worn out shocks and 3. Clogged air filter. Took me a while to correct all these issand they were pricey ($1200 for ball joints, shocks and alignment)… but I’m glad that I got these things fixed and my truck drives like new.
