Missing help

So I took off on my way home from work yesterday and my truck starting missing what it sounded like to me. Just cruising along steady on the pedal and it was missing every so often. If I push the pedal down and as soon as it hit boost or sometimes I made it to 2-3psi then it would miss non stop like it was only hitting on 3 cyl. I was watching the wideband and it would go everywhere. I put new plugs in last night. NGK one step solder ( Same that came out of it) and then this morning on my way to work it did the same thing. When I went into boost I just pushed it about half throttle and it did it again like 3 cyl. As soon as this happened, the CEL flashed about 8 times or so and then stayed on. Came home from work same thing even worse now. Changed my injectors, refurb ones from Luis I had here finally had time to put them in. Pink tops. Still the same. Took awhile for the ECU to trim those pinks but now its idling 14.2-15.0. After the injector upgrade didnt work thinkin it might have been a bad injector, I replaced the fuel filter. Hadnt been changed in over 50k miles. Put a brand new one on and didnt change anything. Now its missing about once every sec or two. Idles fine just sitting there but it misses real quick and you can hear it. I thought it was fuel at first but now I am convinced its on the ignition side of the house. Only real quick fix there is that I know of is plug wires. If that doesnt help what else could it?

Also after I put the pinks in I reset the ECU so it would learn those injectors and trim them down. So my CEL went out and I wasnt able to scan it.

Are you still running the MAPECU2?
No, Im stock ECU, and just threw in some pinks.
clean the maf and check for vacuum leaks:waytogo:

What I dont understand is why it isnt throwing a code
Maybe one of your plug wires is pooched.
hey Mongy didn't you say a while back one plug got soaked in oil?

but I would check the cap and rotor as well if you have one

My 4cyl wire the part that goes onto the plug (the cover) is dry rotten and it broke off. But it has been broke for awhile. I read in the Hyanes that it could be arking down in there on the head.

The only thing I am really stumped on is once it started, it got worse and worse and worse. And right before I got to work, both of my headlight blew I guess. Im not sure if they are actually blown but they went out as I was going down the road and wouldnt come back on. My dash illumination and parking light were on the only thing that was out was the headlights.

I need help I am so damn stumed. I have no clue other than plug wires. I am not in town right now so I cannot work on the truck til thursday. I am just trying to eliminate it down to the things it could be so I can jump on that once I get back.

Coil packs is another thing it said in the manual. I dont see them just going bad. 180k miles.

Could it be the ECU, I heard that these very rarely go bad. But with the boost? Maybe it messed it up?? :looney:

the only first hand input i have is when my supercharger belt was loose. i was getting misfires like crazy(randomly) for a couple seconds..id blip the throttle and theyd go away. then it got worse and worse. it turned out that my supercharger belt was loose and since its also running the alternator, my battery and charging system was ****ed. the belt eventually snapped off and my battery died, had no radio, no lights, etc etc. so check your battery, if you have coil packs they may be surging and causing misfires. i almost replaced my coilpacks but ray(glassdoc) said they might just be getting the wrong amount of electricity and causing misfires....
check your battery and the alternator belt. read what misfires you are getting(if its just one coil pack or both)

Didnt think about that. What do you mean check the battery. Just the connections? Or actually test the battery?

all of the above...if its weak or the alternator not chargin right, it might be throwing the power output to the coils off...check grounds EVERYWHERE...
Just put new plug wires on it. If they are dry rotted down inside, I'd almost put money on that being the problem.
Thats the first thing I am going to try.
I read the thread on 5VZ sputtering and I am convinced mine is the same problem. Mine was sputtering badly and my headlights went out as well.

Gotta be the battery, the cable or the altenator.

BUMP?
hit up vatozone and have them test it all

but sometimes they will say that your battery needs to be charged before testing

my bet is on your alternator since the lights went out
my 22r one was going out and the battery light would come on at a red light then once I got going it would shut off since it would finally make proper voltage

I got one from a salvage yard for $60 with lifetime warranty cant beat that jack:waytogo:

EDIT: I would do wires too if money allows just for peace of mind
