Look into the avh-p4200 that comes out next month. Its replacing the p4100 and has some better features available.
if sound quality is an issue, then there is no question. the Eclipse are the best out of everything as far as that goes. that is based on all the AV units that have been on my bench... which is every unit ever made.So Im looking at two different models the Eclipse AVN6620 and the Pioneer AVH-P4100.
For some reason I think double-din but I always say in-dash. So no I mean double-din. And from what I've read in your post I always remember you telling people that sound quality wise double-dins are not the best which is why I was hesitant to send you pm on your thoughts. The thing is I dont like the way that a single din looks or fits. Just not a good dash kit out there for a single din setup. And my friend had an older double-din eclipse and friggin loved it. I do remember from reading that Eclipse has some of the best sound quality to offer in the medium priced range HU.if sound quality is an issue, then there is no question. the Eclipse are the best out of everything as far as that goes. that is based on all the AV units that have been on my bench... which is every unit ever made.
of course, if sound quality is an issue, then a regular upper end stereo head unit is better than any AV unit.
do you call an AV unit an "In-Dash" too ? i have no idea why kids call it that. all car stereos are "In-Dash"... unless you go back to the 1970's when they had under dash units.

last time someone asked me for a "Double DIN", i handed them a factory Toyota AM/FM/CD/Cassette unit. roflFor some reason I think double-din but I always say in-dash. So no I mean double-din.
Im glad I could make you laugh today. So go with the Eclipse then. Is there anyway to stream ipod video through the unit that Im looking at? My budget originally was for 500 bones but then I stepped it up to 700 for the Eclipse. Is there anything else out there that might be worth taking a look at for an AV or AV/Nav unit?last time someone asked me for a "Double DIN", i handed them a factory Toyota AM/FM/CD/Cassette unit. rofl
hey... thats exactly what they asked for.
what you are looking for, is an AV/Nav unit. that is the real name of it.
yes, the AVH-P4200 has a real 8 band EQ... however, the Eclipse still sounds better.

if i personally had a use for a unit like that, thats what i would do.So go with the Eclipse then.
good choice on the head unit. im sure you will be happy with it.So went with Dave's advice because, well, he's always right and bought the Eclipse AVN6620 as well as the I-POD interface, an I-POD audio/video cord, and a toggle switch. Total of 650 out of pocket with free shipping and a 9 month warranty!
Speaking of which Dave my friend told me that Eclipse is actually getting out of car audio and that pioneer might be doing so as well? That pioneer might get out in the aftermarket realm and only do factory style work?
Yeah my buddy that worked for ultimate told me that there aftermarket sales aren't as high as they used to be in car audio and that they might pull out but weren going to announce a decision till the end of next year.good choice on the head unit. im sure you will be happy with it.
i also have heard the Eclipse thing... i have not heard about the Pioneer thing though... thats kinda hard to believe seeing on how much product they sell.
thats all ok with me though... i should retire anyway.![]()
