Hey guys just got a few questions

how much power can the stock 2rz/3rz-fe motors handle?

when building the short block for higher boost motors do they need to be sleeved?

When sleeved what size pistons are guys running?

Same head. Just different blocks. 3rz has a longer stroke to make up the difference. I am 18psi stock engine, putting down 300/332 currently. It's my DD too. Have about 15k with the current setup. No problems yet. *knocks on wood..

oh thanks man, just a few more questions.

Do the 2.4 and 2.7 share the same head?

is it worth swapping out the 2.4 for a 2.7 for quicker spooling and better power band?
The heads are usually the same, depending on year. Same "architecture"
There were 4 port and 8 port heads, the change happened around 99-00. 8 port heads are alittle better for boosting. Both will be good so having a 4 port is not a deal breaker. Some heads are set up for distributor, coil packs, etc.

The 2.7 is better if you plan on low boost. But the 2rz bottom end is good to 18psi safely stock, where a 3rz bottom end is only good to about 14-15psi safely. You will make more power, safer, on a 2rz. The 3rz is only better if you are upgraded to forged rods/pistons.

Wow. I thought i was pushing it at 15 psi.stock gasket and bolts. I have a metal gasket and studs just need to get a chain and stuff to do while I have it apart.
I was pushing 21 psi with stock hg and studs.

Tune is very important.
