Engine Heat in Cab

Lot of engine heat gets into the cab. I noticed on cooler days in Hawaii that engine heat seemed to be coming in from under the dash. During warm days, I thought it was just part of the warm weather. Is engine heat in the cab normal?

do you have the ac on?

there is bound to be some heat transfer, but it shouldnt be very noticable. there should be about a 1/2 inch of insulation on the firewall.
Turn your heater off. Jk but is it warm or HOT!? A certain amount of heat will soak through the insulation where there is insulation. Also around the Boot. So warm or hot. Warm yeah. Hot NO.
Maybe you have something blocking up the vents. I've never noticed or heard of excessive heat in the cabs before.
Heat can also be coming from your stereo and fan blower. My stereo has a fan a moves air behind the dash and the factory unit used to get real hot.
Very strange problem indeed. Might be an opening of some sort in the firewall

That's a new one on me, too ... I don't recall anyone ever reporting noticeable heat in a 2005+ cab.

I agree ... The first thing that came to mind was some hole opening up (e.g., loss of a gasket or packing) in the firewall.

I don't have the a/c or heater on. Never turned on the heater since I bought the truck. Is the insulation visible on the engine side of the firewall or the inside of the cab?

Thanks for all the replies/suggestions and help.
Does a passenger feel the heat, too? Or is it mainly on your (driver) side?

I'd pull up the carpet and check for gaps / openings through the firewall.
I was having a similar issue a while back. One of the grommets had fallen out, so there was a hole for engine heat to enter the cab.
blend door may not be closing all they way too
Which one fell off? Was it inside or outside and approximate location?

i saw it from the outside (engine bay side), to the left of the master cylinder.

The area between (if you touch the plastic piece) the cigarette lighter and electrical outlet is hot. Along the side of the console next to 6-speed shifter on the passenger side is also hot. Does everyone have hot spots here? This is after the engine has been going for more than fifteen minutes.
Here (attached) is an illustration of the in-cab / behind-dash HVAC components locations. Some sort of heat leak from the combined heater / A/C unit would explain the hot spot around the cigarette lighter / electrical outlet area on the lower center dash console.

However, I'm not sure how that would explain the hot spot along the side of the center floor console. This part makes me wonder if there's a gap or hole in the area of the shifter that's letting in hot air from beneath the floor.
