dull plastic help

1692 Views 11 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  motoman931
The black on my stock fender flairs and the black plastic on the bottom of my bumper is dull and faded. What can I do to make them look fresh and new? My friend has a mach 1 mustang and has the same problem on his shaker hood scoop. He spray paints it black.... is that an option??

Takes a little to work it into the plastic, but brings it back to fresh after:waytogo:
Sold at Walmart, cheapest place.

that stuff doesn't last long. paint them with plastidip. i did my front bumper with it and it looks good over a year later.
either option if a good one. you could always paint them, then use a semigloss clear to seal it

It doesn't last long during rain season
but during dry days, and if you scrub it in..and really work with your valence..it stays freshened for a good 3-4 weeks.
I just did mine with Black Restore by Bondo. It was a kinda difficult to apply because they give you a sponge and it take work to get it streak free but as of right now it looks great. Well worth the $10 but lets see how it holds up with all the rain hitting the north east this weekend.

that stuff is awesome. :waytogo: since i bought that, i only applied it once (in december) and so far it held up real good. i live in hawaii and it almost rains constantly. i would say it depends on how many coats you apply. i apply 3 coats.

you took my suggestion eh? :headbang: you dont need to take off your bumper to put it on, unless you wanna.
I went over my whole front bumper with wet steel wool and it looks brand new. The reason most of those things don't last long because they just build up more residue on the plastic.
I repainted my front bumper with the krylon fusion paint. I just cleaned it off really well then shot a couple coats of paint on it till I got a close match to the trucks' paint. I don't remember if I sprayed it with primer first though. I didnt clear it because i didnt want it looking too shiney or anything like that. Anyway it came out nice and you could hardly notice the difference between it and the truck. I sprayed my flairs with the same stuff too....haven't been able to put those back on yet though thanks to a dang deer :brickknoc
i think im going to paint them white.... i saw a truck the other day with them white it looked clean. has anyone done this? can i do this my self or should i go get them painted.
