I have the stock header. But I have seen some of the DT work and was not impressed. My buddy got a header for his Jeep and had to send it back three times because the flange was warped. He didn't like their customer service too much either.

As far as their Taco header goes I don't know. I wan't the LCEngineering header but it does require some cat modification if you have the Taco with two cats.
yeah i hear ya,i just havent headr anything about the dt headers for the 2rz's.i figured if a few people had good experiences with them i was probably gonna get it.theyre almost half price of lc headers, but then again you get what you pay for most of the time.
Go lc long tube. Over 150k was on mine. Looked like new minus some burnt on mud. It did crack but was replaced. Almost no questions asked. ( they changed their design, and I was missing exhaust supports) Loved the exhaust sound change and could fell extra power after 3.5k. The motor sounded like it was cammed.
will be going that route and ill be throwing cams in at the same time.:D
i ditched my front cat and put on the full length DT for the 98-00, my 00 had dual cats and needed the shorty .no CEL or leaks or anyhting like that. bought it used off another member and the ceramic coating still looks brand new. :waytogo:

have you passed emissions?
Check my post, #5 (side-by-side pics of the DT Shorty Header for dual-cat Tacos and stock exhaust manifold): http://www.customtacos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=142760

I returned it (edit: wasn't impressed with it, poor fit and finish, overall lack of quality) and got LCE's instead. Then had Speed Freek cut back to stock exhaust pipe and welded a 2.25" flange to it. Then bolted a hi-flow cat in-between the header collector flange and the new, welded-on one. So I still have two cats, 2nd one is stock. Passed smog sniff test...

Another thing, that DT Header is made for both 2RZ and 3RZ, so it has a 2.50" flange but bolts to a 2.25" on a 2RZ.
But the DT header is the only one that is CARB legal in CA.

smogged it last november to register it, passed fine.

LCE's is CARB'd up to 2000 and has a number plate welded on it. My understanding is that 2001-2004 status is pending. Doubtful that a LEO or CHP would check its number upon visual inspection... I'm sure a referee would though. The right smog shop would smog it for you. LCE is a much better design and quality too (edit: for me, at least).
the LCE collector hangs too low and can hit bumps and what not if you are lowered more than a couple inches. my DT sits above the bottom of the frame rails and has plenty of clearance for my 5/6 drop.

Sure, but the op is asking about the DT shorty... For lowered applications, as you mentioned, the DT long-tube has advantages vs. LCE. YankeeTaco is pretty slammed and runs a LCE (the one I bought used from Rex, sold to Kevin and then sold to Manny), however.
thats were i compared the differnce. back on topic though, the shorty dual cat header is weak sauce.

Agreed. :waytogo:
wow thanks for all the help guys:waytogo:.
i would go with dt's longtube but cant seem to find it on there website, just the shortys, but instead im gonna be getting a set of used lc headers.:D
