4x4 the gears would be too long. would have no bottom end.
2 wheel drive you wouldnt really need a rear as big as a dana 44. plus you would probally have to have a custom driveshaft made from toyota trans to jeep rear

yeah a D44 is a pretty heavy duty diff...way overkill for your taco.
