Chalky smell when shifting

I have a 01 tacoma 3.4 4x4 with 114k miles on it. Noticing what I can best describe as a “chalky” burning type smell when I shift higher than 2-25k rpm. Especially notice between 3rd and 4th or down shifting to 4th.
I’m planning to do a trans/diff fluid flush, unsure if it’s just low fluid levels?

Any thoughts?
