I'm intrigued by the notion. I've seen some Hondas and VWs done this way. IIRC they're all one off type conversions. Several used the mating gasket as a template and had a flange made. Then had some short runners welded to it that they could attach the ITBs to as well as ports for injectors. Then work on the linkages and supports back to the flange. Then figure out some sweet intake cones. I'd love to hear it hoodless full throttle making a fly by.
