Hey, since winter is almost here. Are capacitors a good idea to add on to a system? I'm only running a single 12 and some foggies. I had some starting problems last year. Seems like the alternator is not getting enough juice. Weird thing is it only happend a couple of times last winter then it started fine. Should I cap it or just buy some yellow top optimas?

What are your symptoms? Car amplifiers draw very little amperage, except when playing sine waves at very high level..

I have MUCH more current draw than you do, I guarantee it. 2x 100watt driving lights, 2x 100watt high beams, and 14 strobe lights. If I run all of that at once, while idling, the voltage dips low.. if I shut off one of them, I'm OK...

So be more specific, andmaybe we can help you.

What kinda strobes you got? I wanted to get some stobes to put under my marker lights but I didn't know what would be bright enough for people to actually see. My neighbor got this little set up from pepboys that had two strobes with like eight different colored caps your could put over them but they were WEAK. If you look at them in the day your could barely see 'em.

I'm running a combo from different manufacturers...

However, I'm a firefighter, so I need the emergency grade lights, and more importantly, I'm authorized to use them.

The Pep boys lights have a big advantage..they are cheap! Emergency grade strobes and power supplies are NOT cheap at all.. brightness depends on how much power you put to them.. Those PB strobes have maybe 5 watts going to them, and mine have 22.5 to some.. Plus, anytime the light passes through a filter, you reduce the output, especially the darker colors, which is why Blue strobes are VERY hard to see.
