I want to bore a set of xrunner rims to fit a 2000 model tacoma. My question is ~ has anyone done it thierself? With tools/drill bit/metal cutter purchased at a local hardwear store?? All the local shops want to much.

I wouldn't do it myself. If you pay someone with a big enough lathe to do it, atleast they could bore it out to the right size and actually make it hub-centric. I'm sure with a die grinder, you could tear into it to serve your needs, but still, personally I wouldn't. Not like it would affect the balance or anything else as far as that goes.

look at post number 6. you might be able to do it this way:shrug:
If you could center it well on a drill press and then bore it out, I don't see why not. I'd much rather do it in the machine shop though. You can pay some shops to let you use their equipment.
If you have access to a lathe,

you can just dremel em out to your size needed
then machine custom hub centric spacers if your worried about it being "out of balance"...using the lathe to make the custom spacers.

Since you need a pretty big lathe to turn a wheel...especially a 18"
A high speed drill press would work lol, just move the wheel around the bit slowly and keep going in circle patterns:lol:

This has got to be one of the funniest things I ever read. The tool for that purpose is called an end mill and the machine you want is a cnc milling machine- standard in almost every shop. You do not move a drill bit to cut with the body rofl, they are only meant for drilling straight down. If you want to use a drill press you just find a drill bit and a reamer of the appropriate diameter and bore out the hole.
I'm black and ghetto,
anything goes:waytogo:
I wouldn't want to have to buy a reamer that big! $$$$$$$$$
You wouldn't need to if you rented time in a shop, they would have those tools available.

LMAO, No your white and foolish and you ought to avoid making so many unnecessary racial comments- it's going to get your ass kicked or get you fired from a job, or both one day .
I didn't think those shops existed anymore.
A wheel re-manufacturing shop should also be able to do and keep it hub-centric... You can try calling around auto body repair shops to see who they outsource for wheel re-manufacturing...
