can this be remedied with an alignment? I just put $450 in tires on the truck and dont care to grind em down. I drive 150 miles a day for work.
If you can find a set, go for it. Just don't get them if you're gonna do bags in the future, they don't get along with bag setups.Would I be better off to go with the DJM kit that includes the new Uppers? Sorry for all the lame questions, just learning all this stuff.
Thats the info I was looking for! For where I am now a 3/4 is all i want, no bags, nothing fancy just a small drop and the same ride quality. I do too much driving on the highway to have to fight it. Basically drop it and forget it!Upper arms aren't needed and only raise the cost of that DJM kit. They used to offer their kit with both upper and lower arms, but quit making the lowers and changed it to the b/j flip hardware kit instead. You can easily go to 5" in front on the stock arms and still have alignment shims in. I have a standard cab with the flip and Belltech lowering coils and was running no shims and realized I was getting wear on the outside of my tires, so I reset the toe and put a thick shim behind every bolt and I'm on 6 months and no weird wear at all with 255/35/18" on a 9" wheel. You will be alignable with a 3/4 drop and stock UCA's.
My kit comes with instructions for the home alignment instructions which will allow you to go get a real alignment and not worry about your tires on the way there.
I'm not trying to diss the DJM kit, it's a good kit. But honestly the uppers aren't necessary for a 3" front drop. You'll get the same effect from my kit and save about $150 while you're at it. My 3/4 kit is the perfect platform for any future drop you'd want to do. Just add coils and a leaf setup (and c-notch) and you're down to a great daily driving 5/6". :waytogo: I know others that are well beyond 3" in front and running stock uppers will chime in...like YankeeTaco and a few others. It's when you go to 3" of drop from the coils, and have the flip that the arms become necessary.Thats the info I was looking for! Beefed, I will be contacting you...
And you have stock uppers and no signs of bad tire wear right Manny? Possibly even a shim or 2 in there? I know your one of the lowest static trucks on here too.You have the same philosophy as myself with a drop. But seriously I started with a 3/4 drop and I just cant stop going lower!:meemee: I just flipped 272,000 miles and I do commute alot and Im at 6/8 drop. I never have to fight anything and my driving style is all about having a great daily driver.:waytogo:
I can relate to not being able to stop...what started as a simple 55 gallon salt water tank is now built into the house, plumbed to the garage, 240 gallons and about $12K, but that's different story. You have the same philosophy as myself with a drop. Thats a plus for sure. Hell, the only reason I can even entertain the thought of messing with the truck is that I am done building the aquarium....that thing is a money pit.Yes I agree its easy to keep going... But I tell you with all the work Beefed had done with my suspension/fab/mods I havent come close to $1000!:headbang:
