Big Brake hat material

I tried searching but didn't come up with any info on this. Does anyone remember what grade of aluminum phatty's was making his brake hats out of? Wilwoods website just says they use premium aluminum alloys, it gives no specifics. Also, I noticed Summit sells a variety of Wilwood brake hats which come without lug or hub holes drilled, they just have the holes for mounting to the rotors and you drill them for your application.

Speed Freek might know ... He was doing a lot of research on Phatty's kit, etc.
5052 is the strongest but expensive and hard to find (not heat treatable) , but you can use 6061 with no problems, probably what Willwood uses anyway.
Baer brakes uses aluminum hats too if that helps
The toughness of the material is decent but I would prefer something with more hardness so that it would be stronger and less prone to warping. I'll design one and run a finite element analysis on it using 6061 as a base material and then work my way up from there.

5052? You sure your not talking about 7050. 5052 is what is used to form boxes out of. That's what I buy when I have to bend it in the brake. My trailing arms are made out of 7050. Strong as steel.
I sat make some ass hats. done thread jacking now.
