So, who is up to a weekend sightseeing tour through the Mojave to Stateline?

The usual trek starting outside Calico/Barstow, through Afton Canyon, past Devils Playground, through Kelso, up to Mid Hills Campground, stop in Nipton, then end at Stateline.

Grub, gamble, sh1t, load up, cross over the hwy, then mob the powerline back towards Fort Irwin and drop back in just before Calico.

We could leave early friday morning, camp out at Mid Hills on friday night, end up at Stateline saturday for lunch. End up at Calico in time for dinner on saturday.

IMPORTANT MEETING INFO

MEET AT 8AM SHARP AT THE DIRT LOT BEHIND KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN AT THE BARSTOW OUTLETS.

RADIO FREQ 153.110
CB RADIO CH. 22

MID HILLS CAMPSITE CHARGES $12 PER CAMPSITE. EXACT CHANGE ONLY. YOU CAN FIND CAMPSITES THAT WILL ACCOMODATE UP TO 4 TRUCKS SO YOU CAN SPLIT UP THE COST.

MAKE SURE TO BRING FIREWOOD AND AN EXTRA 5 GALLONS OF GAS.

********** UPDATE AS OF 4/12/2010 **********

There will be 2 parts to this run. The original crew will be heading out friday morning and camping out at Mid Hills Campground.

I will be leading a second crew early Saturday morning to rendezvous with the first crew at the campgrounds.

If you wanted to see the Mojave Desert but were initially unable to camp out, this is your opportunity to make the second half of the run.

Reply to this thread or PM me by Friday afternoon for meet up details.

depends on your lower back as you are talking about 2 days of riding...
Re: Barstow to Stateline 2010

im into it! These types of trips are why I own a T4R...just need 1-2 weeks notice for work.

oh i can do the ride, thats not a issue, but like will we be one the road for longer then a few miles once the trip starts in mojave. are you guys taking dirt roads back or the highway, from stateline? cuz i can just have the bike and myself dropped off in mojave and picked up to.
Re: Barstow to Stateline 2010

You're actually going to do this on a Friday/Saturday, insted of the usual Saturday/Sunday???

In that case, I might actualy be able to do it......with the usual condition of, "if my truck is done yet"......I'm really hoping it's done by April.

Mike I am more then down and can really gather some folks for this. But i have to make sure up front there will be NO STREET driving on the way there or the way back as I am far from street legal. And dont want to head home alone if everyone flakes and takes the street.

Re: Barstow to Stateline 2010

headlights and tail lights= street legal. ha! i think ill be down for this :D Gotta get my tires mounted heh.
Re: Barstow to Stateline 2010

this sounds like a good idea, engage is willing to participate....again as long as its all dirt as some vehicles that we would bring r not street legal:waytogo:
Re: Barstow to Stateline 2010

this sounds bad ass. i've never done this trip before. count me in
Re: Barstow to Stateline 2010

Im definitely down to do this again as long as the date doesnt conflict with anything. Mid to late April would work for me and even early May. I'd say this trip is 95% dirt roads from the time we get into Afton Canyon. Theres a few paved roads in the middle of the desert that we might have to take. Once you were to get back into Barstow then you will obviously be on the main highways.
Re: Barstow to Stateline 2010

whats the approx mileage for this going one way? just wondering how much extra gas is needed
Re: Barstow to Stateline 2010

I took 10 extra gallons of gas and didnt have to fill up until we returned back to Barstow. I think most guys just took 5 gallons and filled up when we got to stateline. As long as your truck can make it to stateline on a full tank you should be good. Plus you can top off in Barstow before we leave.

cool, sounds bueno
