Does anyone know if 96-00 4wd fenders are the same as 01-04 2wd fenders? How about the corner lights for them. Can you use either year corner lights on either fender?

wow, that is COMPLETELY wrong. fenders are different, 01's have some sort of tab for the corners, and the corners have a thick trim around the outer edge.

So if I have 1rst gen 4x4 fenders can I still use 2nd gen 2x4 corners on them?

FYI, 01 and up corners are the same for 2wd and 4wd, in case you didn't know.
i don't think you'll be able to use the corners, because of the missing tab.

00.5 to 01 there are only 4wd. From 98 to 00.5 depends on 2wd or 4wd. Comepletly different fenders and I think there must be the radiator core support different

I know that the whole corner ight itself is different. I know it you take a look at my front the fenders are 4wd and the bumper it fits.

yes you can, all you need to order is a bracket for the headlight support for the 2nd gen front, 20bucks per side. if you need help hit me up. im bored lol

Hey Kevin when you did ur front end conversion, did you have 1rst gen 4wd fenders or did you use 2nd gen fenders?

i got the fenders off a 98. just ordered the bracket for the headlight support off the 01-04 and bolted it on the fender. simple as that
so recap 96 97 4wd fenders work 98-00 prerunner model and 4wd fenders will work. 00.5-04 all fenders will work. for the conversion.

FYI, if you get 01-04 fenders you will need to drill a mounting bolt hole in the front bottom of the fender on the side below the corner light. At least I needed to on my 98.

Is that the only modification required then? Do you have to do anything to make the corner lights fit right?

Nothing else was required. Most of the support for the corner lights comes from the grille. Just make sure you don't break the mounting point on the bottom of the 01-04 headlight for the grille. IIRC, I broke mine off because something on the core support was in the way on one side. Now the bottom of the grille is zip-tied in where the headlight filler goes. :doah:

I'm not converting the whole front end over... I'm just doin fenders and front bumper 4wd from a 96. So I am wondering if that would be much different then what you did...:shrug:
