I broke the firewall mount for the purge solenoid, and I'm having trouble understanding where it goes. Part number 2586062060. I have it rigged up temporarily on a firewall bracket but the thing vibrates through the cab and makes an annoying clicking noise at idle. Any resources out there I can look into?

Which engine (2RZ; 3RZ; 5VZ) do you have?

Where was this module originally mounted? Just to the left in the photo?

Have you done any mods to the emissions equipment or sensors, or is this Taco bone stock?

5VZ engine, as I put in the threat title. I recently removed it during a valve cover gasket replacement and now I can't remember how the module was originally mounted. I suspect it had some hardware that threaded into the hole to the left of the bracket. Taco is bone stock.

Sorry - I was so caught up in trying to locate relevant stuff in the '96 FSM I forgot you'd specified the 5VZ. Anyway ...

This appears to be the VSV for EVAP (in FSM terminology). This VSV is mounted differently in 2WD versus 4WD 1996 Tacos.

Here (below; attached) is the mounting diagram from the 1996 FSM. Assuming yours is a 4WD (6-lug) Taco, you would seem to need to rotate the module 90 degrees clockwise (per your photo) to match the mounting diagram.

(1) In checking vintage parts listings I found that there were multiple versions of this module, and it wasn't mounted the same way in the same place in all models / engine types.

(2) I don't know whether the bothersome vibrating / clicking may be a side effect of the module being mounted sideways. It's conceivable, but I just don't know for sure.
