I have a 2001 taco and was wondering if a four link suspension would benefit me in everyday driving. I don't plan on bagging it anytime soon, if ever, but was just curious. I am more of a performance phreak, than a suspension tweeker. Thanx.
Yeah, I was wondering about 4-links too. I looked on the Belltech, Hotchkis, DJM, and AirRide sites but they didn't have the info I was looking for. Can you install 4-link without air bags? With simple lowering solutions like lowered leaf springs, does adding 4-link improve performance? Simple stuff like that. Perhaps e-mailing the tech dept. is the easiest way. hmmm...
You can find 4 links a Summit Racing. I can't remember for sure, but I think most of the pplications required some welding. They are best used for stiffining the chassis for better traction. You might look into bolt on traction bars as well.
Yes you can run a four link without bags. Drag race cars use them, and street rods use them. The four links summit sells are drag race-type. When you see them, the price looks low, until you see there are no ends. After pricing the ends, they are not so cheap. The type you want to use on your street driven trucks are the kind street rods use. Technically they are called four bars. Go to www.artmorrison.com
They sell both. You can compare the two and see the difference. I have four linked a couple tacomas . By using a either a parallel four bar, and by relocating the gas tank and using a triangulated four link. The parallel a is quicker install, but I prefer to use a triangulated.

If you use 4 links without bags, wouldn't you have to use some type of coilover to hold up the suspension? With just a 4 link, the suspension will be lowered without anything to hold it up.
Yep your right. It has to have some type of spring. Whether it is a coil, coil over, air bag, or air cylinder. All the four link does is locate the axle.
Before any one says anything... I know they can be installed as traction aiding deviced, such as on drag race cars. But a parallel four bar does nothing more than locate the axle.
I have a Triangulated Pete and Jakes Chrome 4 link.......I love it handles great but then again my mine use for it is to get laying flat on the ground. Pic attached.
