Has anyone out there ever done an engine swap with the new 5.7 Tundra V8 (3UR-FE)? How about the smaller V8 or any other V8? I keep looking at the supercharger for my '04 and I don't want to spend the money on something that requires so much extra stuff (7th injector, pulleys etc.) to make it run right. I've always been a NA guy anyway. Anyway, it was just an idea that popped into my head, I don't know if it is even physically possible to fit the motor into Taco. Any one out there ever done it successfully/fail miserably? Any info one way or the other would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think anyone has done a 3UR swap. I would swap in a 1UZ or 2UZ before I'd swap in a 3UR mainly because of price and it's been done before and it works.

I'm not familiar with all the engine designations? What are those motors out of?

The 1UZ came in the Lexus LS/SC/GS 400. It is a 4.0L

The 2UZ came in the Toyota Land Cruiser, Tundra, and Sequoia and the Lexus LX 470. It is a 4.7L.

the 5.7L will not fit in the older body style tacoma engine bay without major sheet metal work, not to mention the kind of suspension you would have to do to support that motor.

I would say do the 2gr-fte (i think thats what it is) out of a lexus IS350 and do some mods to that. Those motors make great power and you can keep the weight off the front of the truck.
