Hi,
I have a 2005 2wd with >200,000 miles. Runs great and still gets good mpg but thinking about the day when I'll need an overhaul or a new truck. There's a year 2000 3rz available here in Hawaii that's been totally rebuilt, for a good price. I'm a little concerned about compatibility issues between the 2000 engine and the 2005 ecu and wiring. Are the blocks basically the same? Are all the sensors compatible? What possible problems would I face with this swap?

The 2TR (2005) is a completely different engine from a different engine family than the 3RZ and a completely different truck.

You want a 2TR from a 2005 or later Tacoma.

This is the problem with these vehicles. The demand keeps their value up. I had to ride a bus for 4 months while I scanned the ads for one. When it appeared, I called immediately. I was his first and only inquirier.
