Yes, a 55 seires would work. However, you might have to limit the width of the tire. Also, if your car is dropped, there are limitations on height and width.

Yeah, if you're going low, you will want some pretty low profiles, 40 or 45, and depending on how low, if you need to tuck the tires you will need a pretty stout positive offset to be able to get the wheels inside the fenders, and even then on 17s you would have to cut the fender wells (if you want to lay frame). But YES, I guess it would depend on the geometry of the wheel design, but I know for sure that some 17*8 wheels will fit, even seen 18*8 that would go on OK.

My brother had 17x8 and 235/45/17's on his talon. The bolted up to my truck no problems and I was able to drive with them.

I have 205/40's on my wheels. They are mustang 17x8 wheels. If I knew how to post a pic Id show you.
