1999 Tacoma evolution

I started with a bone stock Ď99 Taco. 2.7l 3rz and a w59 tranny. First came ridiculous wheels and tires then a lift. Then a camper shell.

One of the earliest pics I have.

Re: 1999 Tacoma evolution

Then I did poly bushings everywhere. This was not fun and I do not recommend doing this. I also did new ball joints everywhere. Those were easy. This was back around 2010.

Re: 1999 Tacoma evolution

Next came the real lift. The original lift I had was just some Cornfed spacers. I went with OMe 880s, Deavers, and 5100s front/5125s rear.

Re: 1999 Tacoma evolution

Also ditched the 325/60-15 tires for some 33/1050-15s. Much better.

Re: 1999 Tacoma evolution

Fast forward 5 years or so and I installed and Aussie locker in the front diff. Way better in the soft stuff we have everywhere locally.

Re: 1999 Tacoma evolution

Dash mounted a Bearcat 980 with a little heater in the ashtray slot. Fabbed a bedrail Mount for an antenna.

Re: 1999 Tacoma evolution

The power steering pump died as well. It didnít like those 33s I guess. It did get me through a 600 mile round trip one last time though.

Re: 1999 Tacoma evolution

The cast header cracked in 5 places. I replaced it with a Pacesetter in a pinch. I donít recommend it but it has held together.
