01 taco 2rz racetruck project

Hi. I got a 01 single cab taco turbo 2rz has 190k miles. Bought this truck about a few months ago it was already turbod. Looks like an ebay kit. Stock ecu and i installed a split second ftc1 and aem wideband for timing/fuel management, i believe the fuel pump is stock so i bought a bigger pump from paradise racing (waiting for it in the mail) it was running out of fuel while tuning. I have pink top injectors and from what ive read they should be plenty good for the 6-7 psi im running. Brought it out to the track did 15.5 with no slicks lol only spin tires in 1st and 2nd. Truck smoking pretty bad , pretty sure its bad turbo seals. Im planning on buying another cheap ebay turbo running that, while doing that im planning on getting another 2rz on the side and build it with stronger internals(hbeam rods pistons and possibly some head work) and install a better quality turbo and better piping then my 2.5 inch now. Would love help / ideas / feedback on this. What would be a good turbo option? Still want too be able to drive this truck on the street while also taking it to the track on the weekend. Just any feedback on it would be awesome!! Im still new to turbos and 2rz’s. Mahalos
Its night time rn so ill post pics tomorrow.
Aloha!

Re: 01 taco 2rz racetruck project

I have been running a junkyard Holset he351cw I rebuilt when I bought it about 5 years ago. $300 for the turbo $90 for the rebuild kit. If you don't plan on going over 25psi a Holset he341 or Holset hy35 is a better choice and they cost less. They are more reliable than ebay turbos and spool up at lower rpm and reach full boost faster also. They are oem on Dodge diesel pickups. Lots of Dodge guys put larger turbos on and sell their used turbos on ebay. Don't buy the china knock off version of it get a genuine Holset.

'02 4x4 3rz-fe. he351cw Turbo. Treadstone manifold. Megasquirt. 550 primaries 500 secondaries. Vortech inline fuel pump. Intercooler. Flex fuel. R150F trans swap. ACT T020 & DTX-137L disk. 413whp 479wtq 23psi on E85. Kazuma LSD. LCE 10:1 pistons & rods.

This 90 degree v-band exhaust adapter should make it easy to connect a Holset he351cw to your exhaust. I made one of these and am still using it. Now you can buy them for only $45!
