01’ Tacoma 2.4L 5 spd manual leak from shifter

Hey guys I just notice this past weekend when I did my 5/6 drop that there is a leak somewhere from the shift. I took out the cover & shifter boot today and it looks like it’s is coming from the top. Can anyone point me out to where I need to start to fix it? Thanks in advance. 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙&#x1f 3fe;

Looks like it may be coming from around the shift lever.
I would start by replacing the shift lever seat ...and bushing since you are in there. Then confirm your trans is not overfilled ( if it is overfilled, it may be coming from the breather vent)
heres a how to on the procedure

Right on. Will definitely do this since my shifter sometimes slips out of gear. 🤙🏾 Btw where would the breather located at?

I believe these transmissions vent from the shifter area, unlike other transmissions that have an actual dedicated breather vent. (That's why I suggested making sure the shifter seat was in good condition). Also, I believe the shift housing gasket acts as a baffle to control the gear oil... but not sure if it could actually go bad
