US Gov Tacomas with Gun Mounts

US government tags on them with full skids, looked like ARB bumpers, and gun mounts. One trail vehicle and several on a flat bead. The trail guy looked concerned when I started taking pictures and got on the radio.

I can say these trucks look heavily used and all the paint was dulled.

Re: US Gov Tacomas with Gun Mounts

So are those Fema trucks for US. Why would they need trail trucks when they have there own bases and roads made for their hummers and large rigs. Sounds shady if you ask me, think I might put a gun mount on mine. You notice and heavy skid plating on those rigs, usually whole belly skids?

Re: US Gov Tacomas with Gun Mounts

I used to work in Stockton CA, lived in Modesto, CA and from time to time see a car hauler full of modded Tacomas on either I-5 or 99
I remember seeing gun mounts in the bed and parachute drop loops on top of the rearmost cab.

Re: US Gov Tacomas with Gun Mounts

Huh! That's cool! See military shipments all the time but not much of these moded trail tacos. Couldn't help but check out what the government chooses for their rigs, mostly looked custom fab. Looked siack! Surprised no exo-skeleton, but prob. not needed in a chase situation, you'll have a good idea of the terrain ahead with a lead truck haulin' ass. (Kinda like following your buddy on a four wheeler he flips or looses it, you'll naturally slow down). And actually you know what, I bet these are for base runners mostly, but California has a growing freelance weed problem in the north, bet these are for the trial and the cartel runners.

Those new border patrol Ford Raptors are really nice as well, huge price difference though...

Thats cool you lived/worked in Stockton,Ca..... One of my best friends growing up is from there. Good People! Only driven through myself, that's close to Catalina isn't it.

HMMM. I was just thinking, I wonder if one of these trucks will be featured in that new "REDDAWN" movie/remake seems like a decent marking ploy

Re: US Gov Tacomas with Gun Mounts

If I remember correctly I read about these years ago they have mods to make them very quiete and the headlights removed and replaced with what ever style lighting they use for night vision, I figure they got smart and went with a yota although the hummers they have are bad as hell.
