AAL
Adding additional leafs to the pack to provide additional lift.
ABS
The purpose of this is to allow the driver to maintain steering control under heavy braking and, in most situations, to shorten braking distances (by allowing the driver to hit the brake fully without the fear of skidding or loss of control).
BJ
Front suspension component that allows the spindle to rotate separately from the control arms.
BPV
A device located at the rear axle of a Tacoma that regulates brake pressure under load conditions.
CEL
An indicator of the internal status of a vehicle's engine. It is found on the instrument console of most automobiles. When illuminated, it is typically either a red or amber color.
CV
allow a rotating shaft to transmit power through a variable angle, at constant rotational speed, without an appreciable increase in friction or play. They are mainly used in front wheel drive and all wheel drive cars. However, rear wheel drive cars with independent rear suspensions typically use CV joints at the ends of the rear axle halfshafts.
DOHC
Valvetrain layout that is characterized by two camshafts being located within the cylinder head, where there are separate camshafts for inlet and exhaust valves.
ECU
an electronic control unit which controls various aspects of an internal combustion engine's operation. The most simple ECUs simply control the quantity of fuel injected into each cylinder each engine cycle. More advanced ECUs found on most modern cars also control the Ignition timing, Variable Cam Timing (VCT), the level of Boost maintained by the turbocharger (in turbocharged cars), and control other peripherals.
EFI
A means of metering fuel into an internal combustion engine. In modern automotive applications, fuel metering is one of several functions performed by an engine management system.
EGR
A NOx (nitrogen oxide and nitrogen dioxide) reduction technique used in most gasoline and diesel engines

IFS
A broad term for any automobile suspension system that allows each wheel on the same axle to move vertically (i.e. reacting to a bump in the road) independently of each other.
Leaf Spring
Rear suspension component that supports the axle.
LSD
A modified or derived type of differential gear arrangement that allows for some difference in rotational velocity of the output shafts, but does not allow the difference in speed to increase beyond a preset amount
M.I.L.
This light on the dash indicates a problem that should be addressed
M/T
Can either mean Manual Transmission or Mud Terrain (tires)
MAF
Typically refers to the sensor used to determine the mass of air entering the engine.
OHC
Valvetrain configuration that places the camshaft(s) within the cylinder heads, above the combustion chambers, and drive the valves or lifters directly instead of using pushrods.
PSI
A measure of air pressure.
SAS
Swapping out the independent front suspension in favor of a solid axle setup. Provides the ultimate in suspension articulation.
VIN
Code used to identify each vehicle uniquely.
