2006 RAV4 Debuts at Frankfurt International Motor Show
Toyota recently announced the details of its next-generation RAV4 sport utility. The vehicle also made its world premier at the Frankfurt International Motor Show.
The all-new platform is said to be "significantly longer and wider" and will feature a completely new 3.5L V6 powerplant. The new engine will be the first to incorporate dual VVT-i (variable valve timing with intelligence) and will reportedly generate an impressive 268 horsepower and 246 lbs.-ft. of torque @ 4,000 RPM. The standard powertrain will be an upgraded 2.4L inline 4 cylinder generating a respectable 166hp. Both new engine packages are expected to improve fuel economy over current models.
The longer and wider dimensions will provide additional interior space for comfort and versatility. Third row seating will be optional while adjustable seats will provide many seating and storage configurations.
The all-new RAV4 is expected to hit showroom floors in December 2005.
