In a press release dated July 8, 2003, JD Power and Associates ranked the Toyota Tacoma thehighest in overall dependability in the Compact Pickup class. The GMC Sonoma was ranked 2nd overall while the Mazda B-Series was ranked third. In terms of overall manufacturer ratings, Toyota was ranked 2nd highest in overall dependability, just behind Porsche.
